Can someone annotate this poem, pls? for my AP English class, an assignment do tomorrow!?

The teacher's trying to cover up the harsh truths in human history for his students, but they're already living out cruelty in their own lives - he's not protecting their innocence at all, just avoiding discussions of human evil that exists in spite of his efforts to ignore it.
