Be honest, does this picture make him look like a wangster?

A bunch of my friends saw this picture on my Picasa page and laughed at it. I wasn't worried until I went to work the next day (at a summer camp); one of my 8-yr-old campers saw it on my phone and said "he looks like a gangster" and they all started making fun of it and saying "yo" and so on. He doesn't think it looks bad, but a few people have said to us that it's a ridiculous picture. I think they're overreacting... what does everyone think?
