36 weeks pregnant... can i paint the baby's room?

I am 36 weeks and I want to paint the baby's room. Is there a certain kind of paint I should use? Should I wear a mask? Should I just let my husband do it by himself? I really want to help. I love painting, and I want to be apart of decorating my baby's room. Also, ay tips on decorating a little girls room would be great. I want to do a picket fence around the bottom of the walls. Do you know where I could find stencils for that, or what I could use to do that? Also, other than pink what is a good base color to do a little girls room?
